The Recording (Part A and Part B)

Before you ever set foot in a recording studio you should have a clear understanding of how this process works. It may take you anywhere from a few months to a year to plan and complete your recording so needless to say there is a lot to learn. So much in fact, that Rick has broken this section down into two parts. Part A finding and understanding the role of a qualified record producer and Part B understanding the recording process itself.

The Songs

You've probably heard this saying "It starts with a song". It actually starts with "really good" or hopefully "great" songs. If you don't have them then you need to start writing them or finding them. If you don't have the songs, you are missing what is arguably the most important part of the puzzle to ensure your success.

When is an Artist ready to record?

To have any chance of success it is key that you first understand what the music industry is expecting of today's Recording Artists and you know the answer to this very important question, "Am I truly ready for the recording studio?" To help you determine the answer, Rick Tippe and Make Me a Star City have developed a 19 question "When am I ready to record?" survey. If the answer is "Yes" then you'll want to proceed to the next step. Once you have accomplished the other four steps listed above this will become the most important factor to your success…collecting your money. You need to know where you can collect the available revenue sources from radio, television, retail and the internet that all successful recordings earn. This information is something every Recording Artist absolutely needs to know. If you don’t collect your royalties they will go to someone else and today there are more royalties
to collect than ever.
